A HOSPITAL choir has brought festive cheer to patients and visitors with performances this week.
The recently-formed choir, which is made up of staff from across West Suffolk Hospital in Hardwick Lane, Bury St Edmunds, sang carols for half an hour on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the front of the hospital.
Jan Bloomfield, director of workforce and communications at the hospital, said the choir was “brilliant”.
“Ideally what they wanted to do was to go on our wards and sing, but actually we have a great relationship with the Salvation Army and they come in and sing on our wards so we didn’t want to tread on their toes. So what we decided to do was to sing at the front of the hospital.”
She added: “It’s to inspire others to join them [the choir] by being at the front of the hospital and also to give a little bit of festive cheer to all our patients and visitors.”
Over the three performances this week the choir – which was set up by medical secretary Susan Richardson – managed to raise �270 which will be spent on the hospital’s Macmillan unit.
