Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre celebrated its 40th birthday with a splash, with the pool’s new slides also officially opened.
The milestone was marked on Friday last week, exactly 40 years since the Beetons Way centre opened on June 26 1975.
The St Edmundsbury Borough Council owned centre, managed by Abbeycroft Leisure, invited children from Tollgate Primary and Rougham Primary school to name the new slides, now dubbed The Twister and Aqua Rush.
They are holding events throughout the year to mark the occasion, including putting together an exhibition of memorabilia and photographs.
