TEAM Bury’s match with Saffron Walden Town was postponed yesterday following an overnight break-in at the team’s clubhouse.
The Division One Thurlow Nunn League football match had to be called off on Saturday because scene of crime officers had not completed their investigation of the clubhouse at the Ram Meadow ground, near the centre of Bury St Edmunds.
According to Russell Ward, chairman of Bury Town, who groundshare with Team Bury, there were two break-ins on Friday. He said a minor break-in took place around 9:30am before a second, more serious incident occurred some time between late Friday night and Saturday morning.
Windows and fruit machines were smashed and a safe box was stolen.
Police were present at the club this Sunday lunchtime and were taking statements
