A man has been arrested in connection with two incidents of criminal damage at St Edmundsbury Cathedral and a church in Bradfield St George.

Both incidents took place yesterday with the cathedral entered at about 3pm by a man who caused damage to a wooden gate, two silver candle holders and an embroidered silk table cloth.

At St George’s Church in Church Road, Bradfield St George a man took items from within the church and piled them up during the afternoon.

He was disturbed by someone entering the church and left.

A 36-year-old man from Norwich was arrested in Essex by Essex Police officers in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of criminal damage and is currently being held for questioning in the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.
