HUNDREDS of shoppers waited in line to get into Bury St Edmunds’ newest shop.

Queues, which started outside TK Maxx on Robert Boby Retail Park just after 7.30am, stretched all the way back to Waitrose.

Usman Khalid, manager of the new TK Maxx store, said the first morning’s trading had been “excellent.”

“It has been really good and very, very busy. The queues built up very quickly this morning.”

Mr Khalid said that the first 500 people through the door were given 10 gift vouchers while the first 500 children were handed chocolates and goody bags. The store has more than 14,282sq ft of fashion items, accessories and homeware.
