Bury Town Football Club is facing a cash crisis and is in dire need of financial help, it was revealed today.

In a statement on the club’s website chairman Russell Ward said they were going through a “tight cashflow situation” and as a result have asked the players for their help.

It’s understood some of the players have not been paid while others have had to have their wages cut and one has left the Ryman League Premier side, which is based at Ram Meadow.

Mr Ward said that while some have been accommodating, not all have at the .

None of the players have been asked to leave but in some cases players have decided to move on to guarantee their money in the future and one chose to leave despite being told he would not need to take a pay cut.

Mr Ward said they were facing hard times but the only way to get through the problem was for the club to join forces and “get through it together”.

He added that he had approached the players in early December about the problem and since then the club has been unbeaten showing the “type of player we have at the club”.

He went on to say that anyone who pulls on the shirt will give 110% for the club and he could not ask any more from them.

He is working with directors and a new commercial team are working to get the club back on track but it was likely to “take time”.
