Around 280 birds, including Bronze, Norfolk Black, White, Lavender, Narragansett and Bourbon Red turkeys, will go under the hammer at Diss on Thursday, December 21, as auctioneers TW Gaze stages its annual Christmas Poultry Show.
Public viewing at its Diss Auction Rooms is from 4pm and the sale starts at 5pm. As well as turkeys, chickens, geese and ducks from local farmers, the sale will feature guinea fowl, which proved very popular last year.
The sale will follow a show, where champions, reserves, and highly commended birds will be selected. This year’s honorary judge is retired top chef, Freddie Jones, whose career included stints at the Savoy Hotel in London and Maxim’s in Paris. Mr Jones, now based in Diss, has been executive chef at various 4 and 5 star establishments and has cooked for royality. The auctioneers will be Edward Baskerville and Edward Smith.
