A port boss has hailed Ipswich’s Viking-themed maritime festival as a great success.
Port owner Associated British Ports’ (ABP) short sea ports director Andrew Harston said it was a “fantastic” weekend with great weather.
The event, organised by Ipswich Borough Council in partnership with ABP and local charities and businesses, took place on August 19 and 20 and concluded with a fireworks finale on Sunday night.
More than 2,500 visitors came to Ipswich Waterfront and Ipswich Haven Marina and Old Customs House were opened up by ABP as part of the celebrations.
One of the highlights of the weekend was an ABP video, featuring various aspects of the port and showing its vital role in supporting the Suffolk economy. “I would like to thank Ipswich port manager Paul Ager and all of our Ipswich colleagues who gave up their time over this busy weekend,” said Mr Harston.
