ABP’s Port of Ipswich has celebrated the start of the Christmas season with a donation to some good causes.

The operator handed over a cheque for £500 to Ipswich Mayor, councillor Sarah Barber, after she switched on the Christmas tree lights at the Old Customs House’s entrance, bathing the iconic 19th century building on the town’s Waterfront in light.

The money will go to the Mayor’s nominated charities, which this year are FIND – Families in Need, Lighthouse - Women’s Aid Ipswich and The Ipswich Hospital Charity.

This latest donation means ABP has given £2,500 to these charities in 2017.

The Mayor said: “This is another chance for the town to sparkle in the run up to Christmas.

“I am delighted by the donation to my charities. Christmas is a good time for remembering those who don’t have much to celebrate and ABP will be playing its part in providing some seasonal cheer.”
