IPSWICH-BASED architect Alan Wilkinson is the new president of the Suffolk Association of Architects.

He takes over from Patrick Stephenson of Bury St Edmunds who held the post for three years.

At its recent annual general meeting, members of the Suffolk Association of Architects thanked Mr Stephenson for his “excellent” work in representing and chairing the association, and a new committee gave its support to the incoming president.

Mr Wilkinson is principal of WPP Architects in Ipswich and has pledged to continue the association's work in raising the profile of architecture in the county and raising awareness of the added value that good design can bring to the construction project.

Mr Wilkinson's term of office was confirmed on November 29, when Mr Stephenson handed the chain of office to him.
