The TA Hotel Collection is working closely with Alde Valley Academy in Leiston to enrich the students’ hospitality and food curriculum with hands-on work experience, hotel site visits and placements and training demonstrations.
Head Chef James Barber at Aldeburgh’s White Lion Hotel, worked with year 10 students to prepare canapés for a recent parents’ open evening.
School principal Dan Mayhew said; “The evening was a fantastic opportunity for the students not only to pick up skills and ‘tricks of the trade,’ but also to be inspired to work in an industry that provides a high level of employment in this area.”
Group Training Manager at the TA Hotel Collection Deborah Tullett said working with the Alde Valley Academy is “a great opportunity to provide local students with valuable hands-on experiences.”
Head of faculty Claire Wills added: “It was a brilliant opportunity for our students to work alongside a professional chef and learn how produce a variety of canapés on a catering level scale of production”.
