ALEX Cubitt of Suffolk has scooped the East of England Young Enterprise Business Adviser award, sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Ms Cubitt was presented with her award at a ceremony at St Catherine's College, Cambridge, on June 30.

The self-employed businesswoman provided business advice to students at the King Edwards VI upper school in Bury St Edmunds on their Young Enterprise company Diverse Enterprises.

The company provided a range of products from glowsticks and hoodies to aprons and wall planners.

The company's managing director Rebecca Hornsby of King Edwards school said: “Alex taught us to communicate. She said that without communication there is no business. She reminded us to listen to each other and to keep in contact with every new update. It made us realise that as a business we are a team and anything we do will affect others.”

Ms Cubitt said she was delighted to win the award.
