THREE building in Suffolk and north Essex will be in contention at the Royal Institute of British Architects’ eastern region awards.

The RIBA East Spirit of Ingenuity Awards are to be announced at a gala dinner event on the evening of September 30 at Homerton College, Cambridge.

The Granary at Dunwich, designed by Brain Haward Chartered Architect of Southwold, Bavent House at Reydon, near Southwold, designed by Hudson Architects of Norwich, and Green Cottage at Birdbrook, near Halstead, designed by studiomgm with Modece Architects of Hartest, near Bury St Edmunds, are all nominated for the Residential Design Award, sponsored by ET Clay Products.

The Granary is also among the finalists for the Heritage Award, sponsored by English Heritage, and Green Cottage is also on the shortlist for the Sustainability Award, sponsored by Solar Cube.

RIBA regional director Louise Todd said: “The shortlist demonstrates that even in constrained times committed clients working with talented architects can achieve architectural excellence.”
