THE 2008 East of England Businesswoman of the Year Awards will be sponsored by Lloyds TSB Commercial and Adnams, the Institute of Directors Suffolk branch has announced.

It is the second year the high street bank has supported the awards while the Southwold brewer is a first-time sponsor this year with its backing for the Young Businesswoman Award.

Adnams' operations director Karen Hester last year picked up the main Businesswoman of the Year award.

Steve Elsom, area director for commercial banking for Lloyds TSB Norfolk and Suffolk, said the bank was proud to continue its association with the awards as principal sponsor.

The official launch of the regional awards takes place on September, 9, at Lloyds TSB's Cornhill offices in Ipswich. Applications for all three awards - Businesswoman of the Year, Businesswoman Entrepreneur of the Year and Young Businesswoman of the Year - are invited for submission before late October.

Entries will be considered and candidates interviewed by a panel of judges in November and December, and a shortlist of finalists for each award will be visited at their respective organisations during January.

All the finalists are invited to a black tie dinner next February at the Hilton Hotel Stansted, where the winners will be announced.
