Blythburgh: Blythburgh Free Range Pork scoops ‘Good Pig’ award from Compassion in World Farming

A Suffolk pig producer has scooped a ‘Good Pig’ award in recognition of its commitment to animal welfare.

Blythburgh Free Range Pork was awarded a Good Pig Award yesterday by Compassion in World Farming at its prestigious Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards.

Hosted by top cook, food writer and broadcaster Valentine Warner at the Honourable Artillery Company in London, the Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards, now in their sixth year, recognise and award food companies that are committed to implementing substantial policy changes that result in positive impacts for farm animals.

There were over 50 awards presented across five different categories. There was aGood Egg Award, Good Chicken Award and Good Dairy Award, an newly-launched Good Pig Award, and Leadership and Innovation in Retail 2012.

More than 270 million hens, chickens, dairy cows and calves, and pigs are now set to benefit each year as a result of all the award winners’ policies.
