FORMER hairdresser Jane Forsdike has survived the recession to celebrate five years of running her own business, Bijou Boutique, in Tower Street, Ipswich – a fashion store aimed at the “forever-40” woman determined to dress stylishly.

“Times have been tough in retailing and we have very loyal customers who support and encourage us and want us to survive,” she said. “We have had to re-assess our overheads and made savings where we could, like many business, and are positive about the future.”

Jane and colleague Mary Thomas together have more than 35 years’ experience in the retail business.

“We are spreading the word about Bijou with more fashion shows and we have evenings for ladies’ clubs,” Jane added. “Our landlords, Ipswich Institute, allow us to use their restaurant.”
