A farmer-owned pub is set to open its own mini-farm over the Easter weekend.
Stansfield Compasses at Stansfield, near Bury St Edmunds, was bought by Phil Dennis, whose farmyard is next door, last year.
The pub is run by the owners of Benson Blakes Bar & Grill in Bury and they will be officially opening a mini-farm with mini- pigs, pygmy goats, lambs, geese, chicken and other animals.
Steve Blake of Benson Blakes said: βIt is not a petting zoo, but staff will be wandering about with the sheep, guineas and rabbits and the pony will be available for rides for very small children. We believe that children should be given the opportunity to see animals in their natural state and not think that meat comes pre-wrapped.β
The pub also has a smallholding where we will be growing unusual vegetables which are not generally available in supermarkets.
