A Bury St Edmunds restaurant is among the country’s best fine dining spots according to TripAdvisor reviewers.

Maison Bleue in Churchgate Street has been rated eighth in the UK in the 2014 Travellers’ Choice Restaurant Awards, in which top place goes to Midsummer House in Cambridge.

The two East Anglian venues rubs shoulders in the listing with some of the best known restaurants in the country, including Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons at Great Milton in Oxfordshire (which is ranked second), Le Gavroche in London (third), Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, also in London (seventh), Gidleigh Park near Chagford in Devon (ninth) and The Fat Duck at Bray in Berkshire (10th).

The high ranking for Maison Bleue is the latest in a series of successes for its owner Regis Crepy, who also owns The Great House at Lavenham and Mariners in Ipswich.

Earlier this year, Maison Bleue secured a place in Harden’s UK Restaurant Survey for 2014 while The Great House has recently received a “Fabulous Food” accolade in Alastair Sawday’s British Hotel Guide and featured in the Good Hotel Guide as a “gourmet” Editor’s Choice selection.
