A Bury St Edmunds pub has scooped a regional award for Best Wine Pub 2013.

The One Bull in the town centre has been given the title for the East Midlands and East Anglia region in the BT Sport Great British Pub Awards 2013.

The historic pub is now one of six finalists going for the national Best Wine Pub title and the winner will be announced on September 12 at the BT Sport Great British Pub Awards dinner in London.

One Bull owner David Marjoram said: “We’re excited and keeping our fingers crossed for September but are delighted to have won the regional award regardless.”

The awards are organised by leading pub industry magazine, the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.

Its editor Rob Willock said: “The pub offers more than 40 wines, all of which are available by the glass.

“The owners are passionate about wine and have created a wonderful list which offers a selection of old favourites, combined with some more unusual and quirky wines.

“Staff are also trained to a high level which enables them to offer advice to customers when choosing their wine.”
