It’s business as usual today for Palmers Bakery, in Stowmarket, after £1,000 worth of damage was caused to the shop window.

The shop sign was thrown through the window in the early hours of this morning between 1am and 1.30am shattering the glass and had to be boarded up in time for opening.

Bread and cakes had to be thrown away due to contamination but the shop, which is in Station Road West, opposite the parish church and next to the Queen’s Head, and employs four staff was serving customers today despite the damage.

Co-owner Kieron Palmer who runs the business with his father Kenneth, said: “Police initially discovered it and it was boarded up but we are open as normal today but the front will be covered up until Monday morning.”

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Palmers via Facebook confidentially or on 01449 673286 or Suffolk police on 101.
