THE Anglian Business Awards 2006 are open for entries.

The awards, organised by the East Anglian Daily Times with Bank of Scotland Corporate as overall sponsor, were launched at the Trinity Park Conference and Events Centre, Ipswich, which will also be the venue for this year's awards ceremony on Thursday, November 16.

Bank of Scotland's sponsorship includes the premier Business of the Year title, the winner of which will be chosen from among the winners of the 14 categories which make up this year's awards.

Among the sponsors joining Bank Scotland in supporting the awards for a third consecutive year - or more in some cases - are Gotelee & Goldsmith Solicitors (sponsoring the Start-Up Business of the Year category), chartered accountants and business advisers Grant Thornton UK LLP (Business Development) and the Learning and Skills Council (Training & Development).

Also returning as sponsors once again this year are EDF Energy Networks (sponsoring the Environment category) and regional rail operator One (Outstanding Customer Service).

New sponsors include two companies supporting the categories they won last year - Southwold brewer Adnams (Community Involvement) and Claydon-based recycling company Sackers (Export Achievement).

Other new sponsors this year include the Environment Agency (taking over the Rural Business category), Felixstowe-based port systems company MCP plc (supporting the newly-introduced Dynamic Website category), the Anglia IT Recruitment Group (Marketing), Suffolk Chamber of Commerce (taking over the Small Business of the Year award) and White Space Design (Innovation & Technology).

Completing the line-up are two categories for individuals - Entrepreneur of the Year, sponsored by Suffolk College, for those who have made an outstanding contribution to enterprise in the local economy, and the Young Business Person award, sponsored by the IP-City Centre, for people aged up to 35, whether running their own business or in a senior management position with a larger organisation.

The deadline for entries to this year's Anglian Business Awards is 12 noon on Thursday, October 12 - but why delay? The Anglian Business Awards represent an unbeatable opportunity to achieve some high-profile recognition for the success achieved by your company and your people.
