Essex Chambers of Commerce has joined forces with three local authorities to stage a Meet the Buyers event in Chelmsford next month.

Some of the county’s largest organisations will be attending the event, at Hylands House, Chelmsford, on February 27, offering an opportunity for potential suppliers of goods and services to book a one-to-one meeting

With more than £185million-worth of contracts are available, organisers say the event has the potential to provide a significant boost to economic growth in the area by helping businesses large and small across a wide breadth of industry sectors.

Procurement teams from Chelmsford City, Brentwood Borough and Maldon District councils, which are working in partnership with Essex Chambers to stage the event, will be represented, together with other orgnisations including Chelmsford Colelge, Essex & Suffolk Water, Greenfields Community Housing, Morgan Sindall, National Express, Ringway Jacobs and Writtle College.

Suppliers wishing to take part in the event with pre-arranged appointments need to register online at www.meetthebuyersessex.co.uk by January 9.

Essex Chambers of Commerce chief executive Denise Rossiter said: ”We are thrilled to be holding this event providing wonderful opportunities for local businesses to meet with high profile buyers to help promote local procurement.

“As the leading business support organisation, covering the whole of Essex, we are proud to facilitate this event and feel that this event will help sustain business growth supporting economic growth in the heart of our county.”

Mike Smith, inward investment officer at Chelmsford City Council, added “Assisting companies to find routes to market for their products or services is viewed as a vital key to improving local trade.

“Often approaching and supplying major firms and public sector organisations is perceived to be complicated with perhaps insurmountable barriers.
