Clydesdale closes Ipswich unit

A CLYDESDALE Bank satellite unit in Ipswich is closing as part of a review of the entire business.

The bank, which has 77 sites across the UK, said yesterday that it was closing three business banking offices at Knightsbridge, Cardiff and Taunton and two satellite units at Ipswich and Basildon.

The firm employs 56 people across the sites, 31 of which are expected to transfer to nearby locations. A further 25 will be given support to find alternative roles within the business.

The locations will close on a phased basis during late September and existing business members will be looked after from alternative sites.

Executive general manager Mike Williams said: “We have had to make tough decisions to ensure we continue to have a sustainable platform for future growth. Our priority at this time is to support our staff and to ensure our customers continue to receive great service.
