Property and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood named as one of top in country – with growth set to continue in 2019

Ingleton Wood – which has offices across the East of England including Colchester, Cambridge, Norwich and Billericay – has once again been named as one of the leading practices in the country.

It has moved up 13 places in Building magazine’s survey of 150 leading building firms in the UK – jumping to 74 in the annual league table.

David Cresswell, partner at Ingleton Wood, said while they had experienced their best financial year to date the practice was not resting on its laurels – with further expansion planned in 2019.

“We are of course delighted to have moved up the ‘150’ league table for another year running,” he said. “Whilst it’s not necessarily the size of your business that counts, we do firmly believe that our continued growth is as a result of happy clients and plenty of repeat business.

“As we look to the future, our partnership is driven to continue to deliver a quality service and we see no reason not to expand both the service and our geographical coverage. At present we are assessing options with a view to opening a new office west of London, potentially in the Oxford area.

“While this of course would see us moving out of our East Anglian stronghold, we are certain that our brand would be well suited to the client base in that region.”

In the last year, Ingleton Wood has completed and continues to work on several major projects across the region. This includes the Winerack development on Ipswich Waterfront, St Anne’s Quarter and Carrow Quay developments in Norwich and a number of projects for the University of Essex in Colchester.

David continued: “East Anglia is a great place to do business, with good regional centres and easy access to London. The area would benefit from more investment in infrastructure particularly along key routes such as the A14 and A12, but the people are friendly, genuine and talented, which is great for recruitment and developing your client base.

“We remain confident about the year ahead. Although the outcome of Brexit remains unclear, we hope the near future will provide some certainty from the Government.”

Building’s annual survey lists the top 150 architects, engineers, surveyors and project managers in the UK ranked according to number of employees and project fees.

Established in the 1960s, Ingleton Wood has five offices in Colchester, Cambridge, Norwich, Billericay and London and employs close to 200 staff.

With commissions ranging from new build and refurbishment projects to masterplanning and survey work, the Practice has expertise in a range of sectors including education, healthcare, housing, local authority and commercial.
