A Suffolk cider vinegar maker has scooped an organic foods accolade.

Cider and vinegar producer Aspall, which is based near Debenham, received the award from the Soil Association Organic Food Awards for its Aspall Organic Cyder Vinegar.

It’s the fifth award to date from the Soil Association for Aspall Organic Cyder Vinegar.

The Soil Association Organic Food Awards recognise and celebrate the highest quality organic food and drink available in the UK. The highly commended award for Aspall Organic Cyder Vinegar follows this year’s record scoop of awards for Aspall across several national competitions.

The year’s other awards include four separate gold stars at the Great Taste Awards for both Aspall Imperial Cyder and Aspall Organic Cyder as well as gold for Aspall Apple and Cranberry Balsamic Vinegar and Aspall Organic Cyder Vinegar. Aspall picked up a gold medal for Aspall Mulled Cyder and a silver medal for Aspall Imperial Cyder At the British Bottlers Institute Awards, as well as a diploma for Aspall Draught Suffolk Cyder.

Aspall chairman Barry Chevallier Guild said: “We are extremely pleased to have accumulated so many awards this year and are delighted to have been recognised by such a prestigious organisation as the Soil Association. My grandmother, Perronelle Guild, was a founder member of the Soil Association and I know that she would be very proud of this award were she here with us today.

“The awards are testament to how hard everyone works at Aspall to maintain the standards and quality we strive for and it is thanks to all here that we continue to receive such prominent awards.”
