THREE new jobs have been created following the completion of a 65,000 investment at the Sun Inn at Dedham.

Proprietor Piers Baker, who has owned and run the Sun since 2003, has created two additional guest rooms within an area previously occupied by a manager’s flat, which has been relocated.

The move has created additional jobs in housekeeping and front-of-house, and an additional chef has also been taken on.

Mr Baker said the two new rooms were expected to boost revenue by 12% to 15%.

A further 10,000 is being spent on upgrading to the Sun’s booking and payment systems and on new marketing material including a new website and brochures.

Mr Baker said the manager’s flat had been relocated to the area previously occupied by the Victoria’s Plums shop which closed in January this year.

“Planning for a little arduous, given the l oss of retail on a high street and being a Grade II*-listed building in a conservation area. However, we survived and now have two more beautiful guest rooms to complement our existing five,” he said.

Besides its accommodation, the Sun has gained a reputation for its food over the past eight years and has recently received plaudits in The Good Food Guide 2012 and in The Good Pub Guide for three years running, as well as featuring in guides include the AA, Alistair Sawday’s and Michelin.
