A NEWLY-opened farm shop is set to run a half day course on growing grapes for wine-making.

Depden Farm Shop and Training near Bury St Edmunds will be holding the event on Saturday, September 29.

“Thanks to climate change and advances in plant breeding growing grapes for wine and eating in England is now a real possibility,” said the farm shop’s Tim Freathy, who will showing delegates how to grown grapes at the vines and viticulture half day course in association with Giffords Hall Vineyard.

In the weeks running up to Christmas the shop will also be hosting a wine and cheese tasting evening with Master Cheese Monger Hamish Johnson and Nethergate Wines and a ‘Pigs for Sausage Lovers’ course on small scale pig keeping and sausage making. Other events include pumpkin carving and a gingerbread house workshop.
