SUFFOLK furniture and furnishings company, Glasswells, celebrates 60 years in business next month and the celebrations have already begun at its World of Furniture stores in Bury St Edmunds, Martlesham Heath, Saffron Walden and Haverhill.

The company is running a 'Diamond Cuts' promotion, offering generous discounts on many products in the four stores, and will be launching a special competition to win a valuable diamond ring in the last weekend in May - the actual anniversary weekend.

The Glasswell family is proud of the company's history and its success. The first shop was opened in Bury St Edmunds in 1946 by Jerry Glasswell, father of Leslie, the current chairman, and grandfather of Paul, the current managing director. Two further shops were opened soon after, and later followed a removals business and a Contracts service supplying flooring, curtains and other soft furnishings. All parts of the Glasswells empire continue to flourish today.

Leslie Glasswell said: “This is a very special year for us all and we would like to take the opportunity to share our celebrations with our valued customers and say a big thank you for their continued custom over the years.

“It is true we have come a long way since 1946 and it is with great credit to our team who take the time to get to know and understand our customers' needs.”
