A SUFFOLK-based flavours, fragrances and ingredients company is celebrating a double success.
Omega Ingredients, at Great Blakenham, near Ipswich, has gained certification for both the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standards in Food Safety and the ISO 9001 Quality Management standard.
The BRC Global Standards are designed to ensure that manufacturers fulfil their legal obligations and cover quality, safety and operational criteria. They are widely used by suppliers and retailers as a means of ensuring the protection of consumers.
ISO 9001 is designed to provide a sound basis for managing risk, with documented procedures involving staff and customers in feedback to show that all processes are working well.
Steve Pearce, chief executive of Omega Ingredients, said both accreditations had involved lengthy audit processes.
“I am delighted with the ‘double-whammy’ achievement of our BRC and ISO 9001 successes and this is a super reflection of our team’s hard work and commitment to quality management,” he said.
But Mr Pearce added: “Certification is just the start, because both BRC and ISO 9001 require continuous improvement and this fits well with our investment in facilities and staff training”.
