Coffee company Paddy & Scott’s has become the official coffee supplier to the Metaltek-Scotts professional cycling team, based in Northampton.

The company hopes its supplies will help give the riders bursts of energy to help get through their grueling training sessions and races throughout the 2013-14 season.

Paddy Bishopp, who co-founded Paddy & Scott’s with Scott Russell, said: “We are very proud to sponsor the Metaltek-Scotts team as they train hard and have already put their stamp on the domestic racing scene so early on in the season.

“Scott and I are both keen cyclists and it has been proved that a double espresso, dark chocolate brownie and a glass of water is the best pit stop food available, we like to think that our coffee will support the teams future successes.”

The Metaltek-Scott cycling team was launched last year and is managed by Andy Swain, owner of Metaltek Engineering Solutions, a CNC engineering company based at Melton Mowbray.

Andy has been involved in cycling for over 25 years as a competitor, race organiser, race sponsor and co-sponsor of both national and regional level teams. He is assisted in managing the team by Rachel Paling, who comes from a family of national champions and tour riders.

The team of riders includes a range of experienced and talented young riders, including previous national champions, World Championship medallists and Commonwealth Games medallists.
