Three agencies from Suffolk and north Essex have been named among the finalists in the Chartered Institute of Market’s 2013 Marketing Excellence Awards.

Ipswich-based Jacob Bailey has received four nominations, Browser Media from Colchester is a finalist in two categories and Sudbury-based Mackman is also up for an award.

Jacob Bailey has been nominated in the Hotels/Leisure & Travel and Customer Engagement categories for its “Going the Extra 3,108 Miles” campaign on behalf of Ipswich-based Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.

It is also among the finalists in both the Not For Profit and Public Sector categories of a new website created for Claydon-based Activities Unlimited, which supports children and young people with special needs and disabilities.

Browser Media is finalist in both the Digital Marketing and FMCG/Retail categories for its work driving traffic to the website of greetings card retailer Scribbler through search marketing activity.

Mackman, which has offices in Sudbury and Colchester, is a finalist in the Education sector for a campaign on behalf of Harlow College, designed to increase awareness of the college’s ranking and so increase student enrolment.

Paul Mackman, director at Mackman, said: “The fact that two companies from Colchester are up for a series of national marketing awards is testament to the quality of work going on in our town. These awards are the ultimate for our industry and as this piece of work involved every team, we very pleased with the achievement.”

Joe Friedlein, founder and managing director at Browser Media, added: “We’re delighted to have our work recognised in this way.

“Competition is fierce when it comes to national awards, so it’s a real achievement to be short listed alongside some of the UK’s best known brands and even sweeter that we get to celebrate this achievement with another local agency.”

The awards ceremony takes place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on February 12, 2014.
