Two tourism-related businesses in Suffolk and north Essex have narrowed missed out on top honours at the 2014 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

Waldegraves & Cosways Family Holiday Parks, on Mersea Island, received a bronze medal in the Caravan Holiday Park/Holiday Village of the Year category, with the top gold award going to Seafield Caravan Park at Seahouses, Northumberland.

And the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket was Highly Commended in the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year category, for attractions receiving fewer than 50,000 visitors a year, with gold going to the Galleries of Justice Museum in Nottingham.

The awards were announced at a ceremony held at Cheltenham Racecourse.
