STAFF at the Saffron Building Society are to take part in a marathon “Tour de Branch” cycle ride to raise money for charity.

The team, lead by Saffron chief executive Jon Hall, will cover 150 miles over four days, calling at many of the society’s branches along the way.

The routes include Saffron Walden to Colchester via Haverhill and Halstead on Friday, September 28, Brentwood to Saffron Walden via Great Dunmow on Monday, October 1, Saffron Walden to Sawbridgeworth via Bishop’s Stortford Much Hadham on Thursday, October 4 and Royston to Ware via Buntingford on Friday, October 5.

Proceeds from the ride will be split equally between Macmillan Cancer Support and the building society’s own charitable foundation, The Saffron Community Fund, which was established in December 2010 to fund good causes in the local area.

Mr Hall said: “Saffron Building Society has always endeavoured to help support good causes both on a local level with our community fund, and by contributing to large charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support.

“We can think of no better way to raise money than by travelling across the many beautiful areas in which our branches are based, and look forward to the opportunity to get involved in local volunteering and fundraising throughout the East of England.”
