TWO pubs in the region have closed after their parent company fell into administration, with 14 staff being made redundant.
The Donkey and Buskins at Layer-de-la-Haye, near Colchester, and the King’s Head at Woodton, near Bungay, are both part of the Waveney Pub Company Ltd where Adam Clarke and David Whitehead of East Anglian chartered accountants and business advisers Larking Gowen have been appointed joint administrators.
“Cash flow difficulties as a result of difficult trading conditions and pressure from a number of creditors are blamed for the company’s difficulties,” said a spokesman for the administrators.
A third pub owned by the company, The Tavern at Holland-on-Sea, near Clacton, remains open and is trading as normal with all staff being retained.
