FARGO Systems, a specialist provider of software to the logistics sector, has secured a five-year deal with multi-modal transport and container handling company Roadways Container Logistics.

Fargo Systems, based at East Berghold, will roll out its “TOPS... on the go” android smartphone system across Roadways’ entire fleet of more than 300 vehicles.

Roadway Container Logistics has used Fargo’s TOPS transport and container management software system since 2010. The new TOPS... on the go system will provide Roadways and its customers with market leading visibility and real time information, tracking vehicle and container movements from port or railhead to the final delivery or collection location.

Automatic alerts will be sent to transport planners if delays are encountered and scheduled arrival times are unable to be met, so driving faster notification to customers, and drivers will carry out daily vehicle checks, defect reporting and receive job information via their smartphone, removing the need for paperwork.

Phil Wilkes, IT general manager at Roadways Container Logistics, said: “Deploying TOPs on the go across our network is a major investment for us, and is in line with our plans to fulfil our customers’ needs today and into the future. This announcement is the result of the good business relationship that has developed between our two companies, which is founded on a partnership basis.”
