A FIRM which has pioneered equine stem cell procedures has relocated from London to Newmarket, the home of British horse racing.

VetCell Bioscience Ltd was developed four years ago by entrepreneur Greg McGarrell, vet David Mountford and leading veterinary researcher Professor Roger Smith and investigates, develops and commercialises new technologies for veterinary use.

The company's primary focus is on cellular therapeutics to regenerate and functionally restore damaged and diseased tissue.

It originally operated out of the London BioScience Innovation Centre, a biotech incubator within the Royal Veterinary College.

Its new offices are close to the Animal Health Trust and the Horseracing Forensic Laboratory.

Mr Mountford described the relocation as “timely” and “exciting”.
