ESSEX Chambers of Commerce has missed out on establishing a world record for speed networking – but still managed to raise 1,500 for the county’s Farleigh Hospice.

No record for speed networking is currently recognised but the Guinness World Record organisation set the business group a target of getting 250 people involved simultaneously to create an inaugural standard.

However, attendance at the event, held at Boreham House, near Chelmsford, came up short of the target at 170.

Essex Chambers chief executive Denise Rossiter said: “Obviously we are disappointed that we did not manage to enter the record books. However we have raised much-needed funds for a fantastic local cause.”
