ESSEX business expert Professor Jay Mitra has picked up two best research paper awards at the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) annual conference in Dublin.

Prof Mitra, from the Essex Business School, part of the University of Essex, picked up the best paper award in the science and technology track for work with Santanu Roy from the Institute of Management Technology in India.

He was the main author of the paper entitled “Managing R&D for Innovation and the Strategic Deployment of Knowledge Workers in Technology-Driven Organizations: A Case Study from India.”

Prof Mitra also received the award in the entrepreneurship in minority groups track for a paper co-authored with recently graduated doctoral students Asma Rauf and Shaheed Benazir, entitled “Egocentric Network Analysis of Personal Networks and Growth Aspirations of Ethnic Minority Female Entrepreneurs: The Case of Immigrant and British Born Pakistani Female Entrepreneurs”.

The ISBE conference brings together leading lights in the field of entrepreneurship and small business from around the world. Awards are given for outstanding research in specific areas of entrepreneurship, innovation and small business development.
