An Essex-based photographer who specialises in images of new-borns has been awarded Master Craftsman status by the Guild of Photographers.

Jo Bradley, who is based in Chelmsford, is first photographer in the newborn category to receive the accolade which is only awarded after a rigorous assessment process.

Lesley Thirsk, director of the Guild of Photographers, added: “I am delighted that Jo Bradley has achieved this accolade. It is only awarded to those that evidence truly exceptional photographic skill to a panel of internationally-recognised experts from a variety of photographic backgrounds. She is an amazing photographer and thoroughly deserves this recognition.”

Jo, who trained with a leading newborn photographer in the UK and is a member of BANPAS, which promoting safe working practises in newborn photography, says that, as a mother of two herself, she understands how the first days of becoming a new parent are filled with emotion.

In order to provide a comfortable environment, she works at the pace of each baby in her home studio with shoots lasting between two and four hours to allowing time for breaks, feeding and changing.

She said: “I am honoured to be the first newborn photographer to have been awarded the Master Craftsman status. I am committed to providing a truly special, comfortable experience. My service enables parents to ensure the first two weeks of their baby’s life are captured in a precious and bespoke way which can be cherished forever.”
