Members of Essex Chambers of Commerce have met with the new Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for International Trade, Mark Garnier MP, to brief him on their concerns and expectations following the result of the EU referendum.
The meeting took place at Portcullis House in Westminster and was hosted by James Cleverly, MP for Braintree. The businesses present, all exporters, heard from the Minister about the Government’s thoughts on post-Brexit trade arrangements and also raised current issues relating to export legislation and bureaucracy.
Denise Rossiter, chief executive of Essex Chambers of Commerce, said “Supporting the county’s exporters is a key part of our activities so I was delighted that the Minister agreed to meet chamber members at our International Trade Forum.
“We had some extremely lively but positive discussions and the Minister took on board the feedback he got from businesses about how to develop our overseas markets in the coming months and years.
“We are keen to do our bit to help the country’s international trade grow and will hold further meetings with the Department for International Trade later this year and next year.”
