Judges at a national butchery awards were wowed by a beer-flavoured bacon produced in Suffolk.

Catering butcher C&K Meats Ltd of Eye, was runner-up at the BPEX Foodservice Pork Product of the Year contest at London’s Butchers Hall last week. It came second in the Best Cured Product Category for its Green Beer Bacon Steak made with St Peter’s Brewery ales.

BPEX foodservice trade manager Tony Goodger said: “The award-winning ‘Green Beer Bacon Steak’ from C&K Meats Ltd wowed the judges and thoroughly deserves the honour of being one of the best in the sector.”
