High Street fashion retailer Quiz will close this weekend for a major refit of their Ipswich store.

The shop in the Sailmakers Shopping Centre in town will remain shut during the works which are expected to be completed within four weeks.

It is a major vote of confidence in the Sailmakers Centre which had a £4 million refurbishment last year.

Jenny Lloyd, manager of the QUIZ store, said: “Saturday is our last trading day before the refit starts and we will remain closed during the works which will be carried out by a specialist team.

“It is a full refit with new lighting and furnishings and will fall in line with our newest stores, a whole new concept really. So it will be quite a transformation.

“We have been trading here very successfully for six years, but our stores are being updated constantly and with Sailmakers having such a fresh look now, it was important to update our store in the centre.

“It will mean a much more modern and cleaner look, making it more shoppable for our customers with better display of our products.

“It is going to be very modern and make for a nicer, more luxurious shopping experience and of course it underlines our commitment to Sailmakers and to Ipswich.

“Sailmakers is looking good with very positive comments from our customers and footfall is definitely up as well.”

The store employs ten staff who will be redeployed at other stores in the area during the refit before returning for the re-opening in March.

The QUIZ refurbishment comes in the wake of recent new openings in Sailmakers for bb’s coffee and muffins, Pandora and Blue Inc. and a major refit for the Centre’s Topshop store.

Mike Sorhaindo, manager of Sailmakers Shopping Centre, said: “We are delighted that QUIZ have given this commitment to the Centre and to Ipswich.

“They have been here for a number of years and as a top retailer, it is important to us and to the town that they will remain here at the new and improved Sailmakers centre.

“Their presence is a boost to the local economy and will underline Ipswich’s credentials as an important retail centre.”

Quiz are a Glasgow-based company and are currently expanding in the UK with over 60 stores and plans for a further five openings this year as well as a programme of refurbishments
