After 18 months operating via Facebook, would-be retailer Bec Jasper jumped at the chance to open a shop of her own.
The old library building at 22 Cross Green, Debenham, not only became the home for her pre-owned ladieswear and accessories shop last October but also inspired her choice of name for the business – No 22.
Bec, who now runs the shop with the help of a friend, Ras Bhaker, had been building up stock for nearly three years with a view to starting a business, and opted to start via social media when the right premises did not initially materialise.
“I originally started as a Facebook page and online store but was looking for a physical shop for a few years in the village,” she says. “When the old library lease came up I jumped in at the deep end!”
No 22, which operates on a 50/50 commission basis, currently opens from 10am to 3pm Wednesday to Friday and from 10am until noon on Saturday. However, Bec is thinking about extending opening hours during the summer.
