A salesman who started out on the ground floor at regional furnishings retailer Glasswells is celebrating a promotion.

Andrew Boreham, 44, joined the Bury St Edmunds-based firm four years ago and has risen through the ranks to becomes the chain’s new flooring manager and buyer.

Andrew, who had previously run his own business in Newmarket, said: “I am delighted to take on the role at Glasswells. It was a steep learning curve when I first started at Glasswells but I knew all about the company’s reputation and I worked hard to learn about every aspect of flooring - from design to sales.

“We have a very loyal customer base in the flooring department and I want to do all I can to further enhance this.

“I am looking forward to leading our strong team within the department and supporting our other stores across the East of England, as I take on the full buying responsibility over the coming months.

“It is an exciting time as we continue with the full refurbishment of the Bury St Edmunds store. I taken on the role just as we start work on the refit of the carpet department and look forward to revealing the new look department very soon - there’s so many new and innovative products and displays that we will now be able to offer to our customers.”

Ipswich-based IT parts firm Require IT Ltd has appointed a director of operations.

Michael Parker-Canham started out as a warehouse worker and has worked his way up the company.

“Michael starting working for the company in 2009, on our goods in department,” said boss Gary Hamilton. “Since then he has worked incredibly hard generating new business and ensuring all repairs are carried out with the greatest of precision. Because of his hard work and dedication he has now been promoted to director of operations.”

Ipswich cruise holiday firm Fred.Olsen has welcomed a new recruit to its in-house PR team.

PR executive Ellis Barker joins from local media company Archant, where she has occupied a number of senior reporting roles, and was latterly visual editor.

She will be based in-house and reports to PR manager Rachael Jackson.

“I am thrilled to join the team here at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, moving into PR from the world of journalism,” said Ellis.

Ipswich-based Spider Fixed Fee Web Recruitment has appointed Jade Perry as a marketing executive.

Jade Perry joined Spider in May 2018 after finishing her second year at the University of Suffolk, studying a BA (Hons) in Business Management.

“I’m delighted to be on board,” she said.

Ipswich entrepreneur Helen Rudd has scooped a PR and Communications Managing Director of the Year title for the East of England.

Helen, 35, who founded Prominent PR, scooped the title at the annual Influential Businesswoman Awards, hosted by Acquisition International.

“It was a huge surprise to find out that I had been nominated for this award – let alone to have won,” she said. “I am incredibly proud of everything my team and I have built up here.”

Charlotte Ashworth has been appointed to the new role of UK sales executive for Stowmarket malt firm Muntons’ ingredients division.

She will be responsible for the development and management of accounts across the UK particularly within the food and baking industry. Charlotte, who has a BSc (Hons) in nutrition and human health from the University of Suffolk and joined firm’s technical sales support team in 2015, said she was looking forward to the new role.
