'Green' paper brings recognition

WEST Suffolk print company AbbeyHine Ltd has gained FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification) accreditations in recognition of its eco-friendly paper purchase policy.

WEST Suffolk print company AbbeyHine Ltd has gained FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification) accreditations in recognition of its eco-friendly paper purchase policy.

The twin accreditations endorse the Bury St Edmunds company's traceability audits back to sustainable tree plantations, saw and paper mills and wholesale paper suppliers.

“It's an extremely positive move for Abbey Hine as more and more blue chip and corporate companies are asking for their print work to be produced on FSC and PEFC accredited papers,” said director Tom Allum.

“These endorsements mean we can not only satisfy our customers' exacting standards but also identify the company's 'Green Policy' is deliberately aligned to environmental issues, especially forestry management and tree planting recycle programmes.”

Besides AbbeyHine's success, sister company Abbey Labels has achieved full accreditation to the Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials Issue 3 by the British Retail Consortium (BRC).

This allows the company to produce food labels in accordance with the stringent requirements of supermarkets and other major perishable food suppliers.
