Hannah Hensley, who is studying for a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture at Writtle College, has collected the college’s JCB Workwear Agricultural Student of the Year award.

Hannah, 19, from Wickford, and runner-up Sam Turnnidge, 17, from Rayleigh, who is studying the same subject, were presented with their awards at an end-of-year presentation day.

The accolade, set up by the workwear offshoot of the JCB machinery company, is is open to agricultural colleges and universities across the UK.

Besides a trophy, the winners receive £500-worth of workwear, from a range including jackets, trousers, boots and accessories, with the runners-up receiving £250-worth.

Hannah said: “I was delighted to win this award and the workwear products. It’s wonderful to be selected from my classmates for my performance. However, we’ve all given our best this year and worked very hard as we know this is the industry we want to enter.”
