The Ipswich store of regional retailer Hughes Electrical has gifted a television to the RSPCA’s rehoming centre in Martlesham, which it says will be used to secure more permanent homes for dogs in its care.

The animal charity will use the television to play videos of the dogs, so that potential new owners can better identify any they might want to take home.

The RSPCA’s Trudi Keeble said: “Currently we have all our dogs’ details and photos in the public area at our centre. Anyone looking to rehome a dog will come in, look at the clipboards and come back and ask questions. We do not allow people to walk past the kennels as this is too distressing for the animals.

She added: “Now we will be making a short video of each dog - giving people a better idea of their size, temperament and general demeanour. It is a lot nicer than looking at a static photograph, as a lot of our dogs are fun loving which is difficult to portray in a photo.”
