An Ipswich-based facilities management firm is celebrating a significant fall in reportable injuries.
Vertas Group, which has 2,600 employees operating across eight companies at more than 400 sites across the UK, says it has focused heavily on health, safety and wellbeing of employees. It chose World Facilities Management (FM) Day, run by industry body The British Institute of Facilities Management, to reveal a 76% reduction in injuries reportable to the Health and Safety Executive, with three reportable injuries in 2017/18.
It had 23 lost time injuries and 109 minor injuries, a fall of 32% and 29% respectively.
Chief executive Ian Surtees said: “Integrity and consistency are two of our five brand values and we demonstrate these strongly in health and safety. We are immensely proud that this intense focus in recent years has borne fruit with significant progress in keeping our workplaces and employees safe.”
