THE developers of the former Crane foundry site in Ipswich have confirmed five of the six tenants who will occupy phase two of the scheme.

AquiGen, which is in the final stages of building a new John Lewis at home and Waitrose at Futura Park, due to open next month, was given the green light for the detailed scheme, which is larger than originally planned, by Ipswich Borough Councillors last week.

The company confirmed furniture store DFS, Paul Simon Curtains, Furniture Village, Costa Coffee and Carphone Warehouse will become tenants of the second phase development. They will be situated opposite John Lewis, and they are expected to be completed in July next year.

Talks are ongoing with the final tenant planned for the site.

Tony Chambers and Paul Isaacs, who are chairman and managing director respectively of AquiGen, welcomed the councillors’ decision to give the go-ahead to phase 2.

“It’s a big project and we are absolutely delighted,” said Mr Isaacs.
