New business training centre by the Waterfront

A new business training centre is opening in Ipswich.

The centre, at Ip City by the Waterfront, will be run by Bury St Edmunds-based West Suffolk College, which is expanding its geographic reach with the new venture.

The vocational and academic college will use the launch of the new arm in mid-September to unveil its new services to business brand, Develop Anglia.

“Building on the existing and excellent service we already offer at the West Suffolk College site in Bury St Edmunds, this expansion will put us at the heart of East Anglia and allow us to offer development and training to businesses in comfortable modern facilities with easy access from the A14,” said the college.

Commercial training at the new centre will be offered across a range of sectors and will include leadership and management courses, IT and computing skills, engineering, nuclear, customer service and business skills and health and safety and first aid.

Head of business development Ginny Idehen said: “I’m delighted that we are about to open our fantastic and professional new training facility in the east of the region.

“We currently work with 1750 businesses and I’m excited that we are now ready to provide more commercial training and development solutions to even more businesses across the Anglia region.

“We are constantly developing new provision and working with our partners to identify the skills businesses are going to need in the future. We believe that with the right training and development everyone can be a better leader and manager, and if an employee is invested in, they in turn will invest in that business.

“One such course is an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Training Level 7. This course is designed for new senior executives and for those preparing for the highest levels of management.”

The ILM Level 7 qualification is for those professionals who seek to develop themselves as leaders and managers, who recognise they must satisfy various stakeholders and who want to invest in their own personal brand.

“We at Develop Anglia believe that skilled managers and leaders hold the key to creating productive, engaged, high-performing workforces, which drive business and economic success,” said Ms Idehen.

The college, which employs 500 staff and has sites at Stowmarket, Sudbury, Mildenhall and Haverhill, has a turnover of £25million.

Courses are running IP City 15 September 2014 and at Bury St Edmunds from September 12.
